Alex "Sasha" Khapsalis

Alex "Sasha" Khapsalis had a long and successful professional career as a player which lasted for over 20 years. Born in Russia, he was a member of the USSR Junior National team from 1974 to 1982. He played for the USSR National team during 1979-1981. Among his many accomplishments are 1976 and 1981 Junior European Cup Gold Medals. He won the Soviet National Cup in 1978, 1980, and in 1984. Alex won Championships with Dinamo Kiev in 1980 and 1981, Silver medal in 1978, and Bronze in 1979. During his career, Alex was a member of Russian teams that captured 10 International tournaments including Italy, France, Brazil, Spain, Cuba, North Korea, Uzbekistan, Poland, and Sweden. When he came to United States, he played professionally with San Diego Sockers and won 2 championships there. He was a head coach at Dynamo L.A. Club for several years.
